Humans have already started trying ways to figure such far advance abilities. For example, the famous light saber from the Star Wars series has almost came to life. Scientists have been trying to figure out how to keep plasma in a solid form. However, the problem scientists have with plasma is they can' keep it in a certain state once without their testing tube. As a result, maybe in the soon future such weapons can be made. Humans also have tried making robots, but they could only retain minimal tasks. For example, the robot vacuum only vacuums the floor and has no other option available. This is nowhere as close to the robots we see in Star Wars. However with all this new found technology humans are trying to build, will it actually help the planet Earth?
Star Wars underlines a hidden message. War. All this technology makes it easier for war to be started especially people who want to take over the world or has opposing views. The Sith use robot armies equipped with laser guns as infantry to attack the Republic. Not only are there robots, but the Sith too have light sabers of which they can wield. To be human, means to pick a side. Will you be helping the good or the evil? The belief of individual humans come into big play. Sith are like the terrorists of today. They oppose the way of life or want us to conform with them. In present day, the advance of weaponry has cause the Earth great harm. People can easy obtain weapons if they have the money to pay. Or weaponry can be made from simple household items. Although technology can be useful there is a certain point were we need to know how to control it.
I totally agree that technology can be bad. As of right now, we use a lot of technology in out daily lives without knowing it. It can cause all sorts of problems but it can also help solve a lot of them. In other words, technology has it's advantages and disadvantages. I guess it all depends on how you see it and how you would use it. Like you mentioned above, some people may use it for bad, enclosing a disadvantage. If people can use it for bad, it clearly means that they can use it for good as well.

People do tend to abuse a lot of the great advancements that we have today. Technology is one of them. People choose to abuse it, it doesn't necessarily mean that they do not know how to control it. It just means that they do not share the same views as everyone else.
Personally, I do think that technology is going to take over in the future, maybe even the near future. But I'm pretty sure that if we start getting a deeper understanding of technology now, we will be able to find a way to beat it in the future.
